Briefscope

Client onboarding for designers

Seven steps from “yes, let’s do it” to a brief, a plan and a first version, without the email thread.

  1. Send one link, not a PDF

Clients skip attachments and answer questions. Put the brief in a form they fill in on their phone, one question at a time. Start with the client questionnaire.

In Briefscope: Each project gets one link. Your client opens it without an account, and it carries your studio’s name.

  2. Ask the questions for this kind of project

A logo needs the smallest place it will appear. Packaging needs the dieline. Seven questions fit every project; add the few that fit the type.

In Briefscope: Pick the project type and the brief adds its questions.

  3. Read the brief for gaps before you plan

List what’s missing or vague and ask once more, before you start. A guess now becomes a redo later.

In Briefscope: The brief comes back read: a summary, the priorities, and the gaps phrased as questions to ask.

  4. Keep the kickoff call short, and optional

When the brief covers the basics, the call is for what it doesn’t. Offer two or three times, and let the client say no call is needed.

In Briefscope: Offer times from the project; your client picks one in the portal and both of you get a calendar file.

  5. Plan with real dates, and agree on them

Work back from the deadline and give the client’s feedback its own days. Check the dates with the timeline calculator.

In Briefscope: The plan gets dates from your start and deadline. Your client sees it only after you publish it.

  6. Agree how feedback and approvals work

Say how many rounds are included and what counts as approval. “Looks good” in a text message is hard to find later.

In Briefscope: Your client approves each version or asks for changes, and every decision is dated.

  7. Keep files and decisions in one place

Brief files, versions and final files belong with the project, not spread across email, chat and transfer links.

In Briefscope: Files live with the project, private, and the final files come with Download all.
